Exit the Dragon
After much snoozing, smoozing, and lalapaloozing, I have returned from Dragon Con a weekend older and an art show wiser. Much fun was had chilling with some of my very favorite people and receiving some great critiques from some even greater artists I admire like Matt Hughes, Tom Flemming, Don Maits, and so many others. Being around that many creative folks and friends was so inspiring! After my sales and experiences this year, I'm really looking forward to a year of development with my art and career. I've really been inspired to be better in ways I never would have thought of before.

But now it's back to work on thesis, finishing commissions, my first editing gig, and life in general!

Free Prints!
I wanted to do something special this year and thought I'd try something new in addition to the dcon leftovers sale. So here's your chance to get some free prints! All you have to do is reply to this topic at my forum with a story about your experience at Dragon Con (either this year's con or any past con) and you will be entered into a raffle to win free prints. The prize pot consists of a set of mini prints of the seasonal angels and another set consisting of some classic images from yours truly. There will be 2 drawings and 2 chances to win a prize pot:) You will have to join my forum to post, but I promise that it won't hurt (plus you can play Tetris and help me dethrone Windfalcon).

I'd love to hear about your experience at the art show and viewing my panel, but you don't have to tell me specifically about that if you don't want to. Tell me about your favorite costume, your favorite ride in the elevator, or random scene of Klingons eating french fries in the food court. With so many funky costumes, inebriated fans, and colorful characters in one place, I'm sure you have plenty of stories to tell!

I will draw names on Friday the 12th of this month, so get your tales in now!

THE LEFTOVERS SALE!
Every year, I put my leftover print stock on sale so you folks can get a stab at them for cheaper prices before they get boxed and shipped to other cons.  Check out my DA journal here for more details.

And now I leave you with a  Kiss

Lets see I remember an incident where three certain women got up and sang a certain Rick Astley song on a karaoke...
oh yeah and there was when someone drew a twisted monster of doom and had to give it a walker...

Only other story I have is me, Chas and some poor kid sat down to play a demo of a board game called Monster Mayhem where on a risk like board we rampage around a city feeding on various B-movie sterio type victims like the Buxom Co-ed or the Double Dealing Politician, I was the werewolf, Chas the Mummy, and the Kid got to be the vampire, the victims move around random often bumping into blind corners while we chase them down and try to capture and feed on them, (Werewolf wants bones, Vampire Blood, Mummy Organs)  pretty fun, and was going along smoothly till the vampire decided to pick a fight with the werewolf...I smashed him he runs a way bumps into blind alley runs back into me gets his undead butt handed to me runs away again boing back to me roll my 3 fighting dice... 6 6 6...then he gets away ^_^ poor kid had a rough time.

Ahaha and the legend of the Rick Roll growsXD  I hope we don't end up on youtube... I keep checking the search engine to make sure.

Aww poor kid!  Looks like he got the raw end of that deal.  Sounds like a fun game though. I really need to try going to the game room some year.

*sniffle* I miss my geriatric chupacabra Sad

There haven't been a lot of bites on this topic so I am now opening up it up for EVERYONE, including those who did not attend Dragon Con.  Tell me a story, a joke, an interesting thing that happened to you the other day.  I will draw your names from a hat on Friday:)

Grin Ello Angela! I read in your journal about the whole, "interesting story" from the other day. I work at a Veterans Home in New York, and day in and day out it always seems that everyone is always on edge. Last Wednesday was no different from any other day, but I couldn't help but notice something was off. As I entered into the Dementia Unit to walk my people, I noticed they were all having cake and ice cream, like a social ordeal. I busted into song, only after one of the residents screamed "HEY! SHES WEARING CATS! HAPPY UNBIRTHDAY TO YOU!" It made me sing and dance "Merry Unbirthday" from Alice in Wonderland. I held up a tea cup, and the resident who screamed it out was dancing and singing as well. All the residents got a kick out of it, and it really made my day as well as all of theirs. Not much to do since they are 65 and up!

That sounds so surreal, but wonderful. My mother used to work at a veteran's hospital so I can understand how the smallest bit of excitement can seem exciting to an elder generation who have been hospitalized.  She used to take our epileptic cat Smokey as a therapy cat and he made so many people happy just from being his sweet and cuddly self.  It's definitely a joyous thing to bring relief to others:)

Aand your name shall be put in the hat!

Malbi and Mae, you guys are awesome for sharing and you each get a prize pot:)  I have sent out Malbi's and I'll send yours out this coming week, Mae!

Thanks so much. It was great to hear from you.  This was alot of fun so I might do it once a month as long as I have leftover miniprints. Kiss

Also, the leftovers sale is OVER!  These prints are getting shipped off to other cons.  Sorry to those who missed out!  Keep up with my con list in my Shout Board at my DA Journal and/or check my Calendar here at the forum to see where signed prints might be popping up near you:)

I love working at the Vets Home. Its so hard to work with the sick and dying though  Embarrassed I really can't believe I won, I am super pumped! Did you need my address Angie? We have some cats that live in the home, Peanut Butter, Elliot, Socks, and Sunny. The residents love to have the interaction and occasionally we have some theropy dogs come in.

Hi Mae! I was just about to note you to ask for your addy.  Check over at DA or you can PM me here at your convenience. Whatever option you prefer.  Congrats! I will have your prints to you soon:)

Therapy animals are just a wonderful idea.  There's nothing like the unconditional love of an animal to make you feel good.  Mom had the same difficulties working at the Veteran's hospital, but it was rewarding in the end to make others smile.
